You Bet Astro Bot Is Getting A Limited Edition DualSense Controller

With eyes, does that make it a peer-ipheral?

Many people asked for an Astro Bot flavoured DualSense controller. Many people have impeccable taste.

And some of those impeccable people will have their prayers answered, because such a thing is slated to exist – albeit in a limited fashion.

Come August 9, you’ll have the opportunity to rush and try to preorder your very own Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller – and isn’t she a beauty:

With some super sci-fi accents, this controller is cute as a button. From the attached blog post unveiling this sucker:

We know many of you were hoping for this after seeing the game trailer. So, we quickly asked our lovely bots to engineer this beauty and tada! No, no, I’m just kidding; it had been in the making for some time, carefully crafted by the amazing teams at SIE. And what splendid work they did.

The controller’s design features Astro’s signature blue accents on the handles and buttons, carved-in, sci-fi lines as well as the trademark playful pair of eyes on the touch pad. It is a true work of art, and we could not be happier with the end-result at Team Asobi.

Me personally? I love those white control sticks. I’d almost be too anxious to touch them.

As if the still images were not convincing enough, there is even a dedicated Controller Reveal video to imbibe:

The only heart-breaking factoid to be had from this otherwise peachy reveal is the crushing truth that the eyes present on the touch pad of the controller will not animate. Yes, those glorious peepers are staring up at you with all the warmth and love you’d expect from a digital labradoodle – but there will be no technology driving them to blink, look around or cheekily wink as you explore the world of Astro Bot.

Which makes sense, because it would have cost a mint to pull that off. But…imagine if they had.

You can pre-order the precocious peripheral starting from August 9 through direct.playstation.com, as well as from select retailers. May the odds be ever in your favour, because you can bet they will sell out super fast.

What do you think of the Astro Bot controller? Will it be your newest handheld friend? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
