Developer Frogwares has revealed The Sinking City 2 will be coming to PS5, Xbox Seris X and PC in 2025.
Telling a gothic horror story that’s completely separate from the original game (which we gave an 8), The Sinking City 2 pivots, taking the series into a full survival horror. Set in the cursed US city of Arham in the 1920s, players will be able to explore a semi-open world as they explore various environments while fighting back against Eldritch creatures with a range of melee weapons and firearms. Those who played and enjoyed the original will be happy to hear that the puzzle-solving and detective work is set to return, however, interacting with the world in this way will be optional, though it will reward players with additional lore snippets and clues.
We don’t know specifics when it comes to the game’s story at this stage, but the announcement came alongside an impressive trailer that shows off all manner of beasties and rotten locations, making it very clear that the horror has been ratcheted up for the sequel.

This change of course into the horror genre is a decent departure for Frogwares, who typically lean more towards detective-style games, but it’s a challenge that the studio appears to be excited about. Frogwares Publishing Director Sergiy Oganesyan voiced the team’s excitement, saying “The original Sinking City is still one of our most successful titles, most likely because of stronger horror genre leanings and setting. We created quite a few detective adventures in the past, so now we’re going to mix things up to keep doing what people love about us – meaning story-rich experiences – while still being able to evolve.”
Frogwares, a Ukrainian studio, has been and continues to be affected by the ongoing war, and has been very transparent with the impact it’s caused. To combat the negative impact, Frogwares will be running a Kickstart campaign for The Sinking City 2, which CEO Wael Amr has said will “help us deal with potential disruptions on top of helping fund various extra features we would love to implement. If you’re keen on The Sinking City 2, you can head over to the game’s Kickstart page here.
