If you are a fan of The Ghost Who Walks, you’ll be in for a treat this Christmas season – because the purple-clad biffer of bad guys has his very own side scrolling adventure on the way.
The game has already made its way to Steam for the sake of wish-listing, with a neat mini-trailer to get people back on board with The Phantom mythos and spotlight some of the punchy-shooty that we can all expect:
The Steam page also offers a little insight into the pedigree behind the game, including the approval of the games’ narrative and the art direction behind the game, making sure that true Phantom-heads are involved:
The Phantom features classic brawling mechanics fused with completely hand-drawn 2D visuals to deliver a gaming experience befitting Comics’ very first costumed hero and an almost 90 year old legacy. Brought to you by the Art Of Play Interactive in association with King Features Syndicate. Choose The Phantom, or his partner Diana Palmer as you head off on a 15 level global mission to take down the pirates of the Singh Brotherhood. Use a combination of your hand-to-hand fighting skills as well as your trusty weapons to dispatch evil and fight to retain The Phantom’s legacy. You can also count on help from stallion Hero and Devil the wolf! The Phantom features a NEW official story approved by King Features Syndicate that is presented across beautiful full screen cut scenes, hand illustrated by seasoned comic book artist and existing Phantom contributor Anthony Spay.
The folks at Art Of Play Interactive look to have all their skull-rings in a row, particularly in regards to making sure this is an accurate embodiment of the piracy-adverse hero. We’ve definitely come a long way since Phantom 2040 or the Defenders of the Earth games.
