The Last Of Us: Escape The Dark Is A Brutal Board Game Adaptation Coming To Kickstarter Soon

Roll the dice on your survival

Naughty Dog has announced The Last of Us: Escape the Dark, a new board game set within the Last of Us universe coming to Kickstarter on November 8.

Announced through a Naughty Dog blog post, the tabletop adaptation is designed by Themeborne, the team behind the Escape the Dark series of games. The Last of Us: Escape the Dark will be a 1-5-player co-op experience with players taking on the role of Ellie, Joel, Tess, Bill, Tommy or Marlene as they explore an open-world map and try to survive.

Built on the Escape the Dark game engine, players will make choices throughout the game that’ll take them to various locations, resolving chapter cards as they progress. Completing these chapter cards and surviving will rely on strategically using item cards and rolling dice to overcome infected and hunter enemies. As explained on the Themeborne website, each character begins the game with a Hang-up that they’ll be tasked with overcoming, playing into the series’ themes of personal growth and survival in an apocalyptic world.

As evident from the lone image of the game below, the monochromatic art style is beautiful and fits with the aesthetic of The Last of Us. We know there will be a standard and a collector’s edition of the game available, and the Kickstarter will undoubtedly feature plenty of stretch goals, but that’s all we know at this stage.

If you’re keen to know more and eventually get your hands on The Last of Us: Escape the Dark, you can head to Kickstarter and sign up to be notified when it launches on November 8.
