The game looks a treat, with that same incredible art lending an amazing air to the card-based exorcism-driven furor.
It seems a cool twist to the card-based roguelite formula, to use your actions as a priest trying to banish a problematic demon dork, while also helping those that have fallen prey to the darkness. From the Kickstarter:
Malys is a twisted roguelite deckbuilder where players embody Noah, a former priest and exorcist turned demon hunter. As Noah, they will roam the streets of a dark, festering city at night, finding those innocents who have become possessed, and exorcising them of their demons. But not all is as it seems, and as the player progresses through the game, they will find out far more about the dark and grey of the world than they might ever want to.
The Kickstarter has not even been live for an entire day, but funding is well on the way with $43,058 AUD raised towards the $260,000 AUD as at time of writing this. The Kickstarter also has a plethora of fun and fiendish rewards available to backers – ranging from the usual “get a copy of the game” tier, right up to “name a demon after your ex”. Brilliant.
With the game hoping to launch this year, it’s safe to assume that this Kickstarter is hoping to bridge the gap between finalising development and getting the title into our sinful little hands – so if the dark world of Malys has piqued your interest, perhaps take a gander at what the Kickstarter might offer you.
