Sony Announces PlayStation 4 Pro

It’s no ‘The One’ but it’s something!

After months of rumours about the Playstation Neo, Sony has today unveiled the latest console in their range, named the Playstation 4 Pro. The console will be available November 10 and will retail for $559.95 AUD. The specs upon release will be as follows:

CPU Custome-built x86-64 AMD “Jaguar,” 8 cores
GPU 4.20 TFLOPS, AMD Radeon-based graphics engine
Memory/Storage GDDR5 8GB
Storage 1TB
Connectivity x3 USB 3.1, AUX x1, HDMI x1 (supports 4K/HDR), Digital Optical x1, Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T), IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 (LE)
Optical drive BD × 6 CAV, DVD × 8 CAV
Weight 3.3 kg
Dimensions 295×55×327mm

Possibly the greatest source of contention is that the new console will require you to have a 4K TV but the PlayStation lead system architect Mark Cerny has said you won’t need a 4K TV or HDR to enjoy the latest in graphics, they will look infinitely better on standard TVs too. Time will tell I suppose.
