Sci-Fi Survival Game The Alters Has Been Delayed Into 2025

In another life, we’re playing it right now

Developer/publisher 11 Bit Studios has announced that its upcoming sci-fi title, The Alters, has been delayed into Q1 2025.

Announced back in 2022, The Alters is a unique title that blends survival and base-building gameplay with a strong science fiction backdrop. Playing as everyman Jan Dolski, players are tasked with surviving and attempting to escape from an alien planet with the help of, well, more Jan Dolskis. The main sci-fi hook in The Alters is the ability to clone yourself, with each recreation being a version of Jan that lived their life differently in some way.

It’s an intriguing set-up, so we’re happy for 11 Bit Studios to take the time needed to deliver on the promise. The announcement was made on X as an in-world transmission to the game’s protagonist, though the statement does hint that the extra development time will be used for further polish on the project.

Our first look at The Alters gameplay came during this year’s Xbox Partner Showcase back in March. Short as the trailer may have been, it was intriguing, with both sides of gameplay looking engaging for different reasons. And yes, I want to clone myself as many times as possible just to see what possible Jans have been up to.

The Alters will now release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in Q1 2025.
