Rockstar Games has officially announced that a new entry into the Grand Theft Auto series is in active development.
Announced on the Rockstar Games website, the statement mentions that not only is a new entry in the works but that it’s “well underway.”
Very little has been revealed about this new project, not even the title, but hopefully, we won’t need to wait long to find out more. Here’s what was said in the announcement:
“With the unprecedented longevity of GTAV, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series. With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.”

The main takeaway that I have from the statement is that this new entry will “significantly move beyond” previous titles. There have been plenty of rumours about the next GTA featuring an ever-evolving map, which would fit the bill for evolving the series.
