PSVR2 Set For February 2023 Launch; Australian Pricing Revealed

Wallets at the ready

It’s official; the PSVR2 will launch on February 22, 2023, with a retail price of $879.95 AUD. The info dump of new details, ranging from multiple retail SKUs, accessories and a brand new slate of games headed to the service, dropped overnight and included some interesting new details, with Australian release dates and prices revealed not long after.

Two bundles will lead the launch cycle; one with the base PSVR2 kit, a set of PSVR2 Sense controllers and a stereo headset, and a second, more expensive kit ($959.95 AUD) adding a copy of Horizon: Call of the Mountain in with the same hardware set. A separate charging station for the PSVR2 Sense controllers will also launch alongside the system for $79.95 AUD.

11 new titles were also confirmed to be headed to PSVR2 across 2023, headlined by a new virtual spin-off of the Dark Pictures Anthology, an on-rails first-person shooter entitled The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR. Going off the trailer below, it looks an awful lot like Supermassive Games’ last attempt at a VR game, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, itself a launch title for the original PSVR.

Other announcements include updated ports of Pistol Whip and After the Fall and a few other VR spins on existing IPs including Crossfire: Sierra Squad, Hello Neighbour: Search and Rescue and Cities VR: Enhanced Edition. Also, a Jurassic World game, if that floats your (virtual) boat.

So what do you think? Will you shell out for a new VR sensation or save your hard-earned money for the many other February releases instead? Let us know in the comments below or on our socials.
