As a sport, golf is one that you either love or hate. But there’s something about golf video games that appeal to a wider audience. Perhaps it’s their relaxing nature or the ability to play a round of 18 holes with your mate without having to leave the couch to find your ball in the rough somewhere. However, golf games are not something the market is flush with, at least not when it comes to licensed golf games and not goofy ones. 2K has shown a commitment to filling that void recently, publishing The Golf Club 2019 in 2018 and announcing PGA Tour 2K21 a week ago, teasing the game’s cover star in the process. Tonight, 2K has announced that PGA Tour 2K21, developed by The Golf Club’s HB Studios, will release on August 21 on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia. Former world number one Justin Thomas has been revealed as the first-ever cover star for 2K’s PGA Tour series.
11 other PGA pros will duke it out against players in the game’s career mode, which will feature a “broadcast-style presentation with state-of-the-art graphics, dynamic cutscenes and a seamless replay system, all anchored by the play-by-play commentary of renowned broadcaster Luke Elvy and analyst Rich Beem.” PGA Tour 2K21 will feature 15 PGA TOUR courses, all of which have been replicated with complete authenticity to make it the most realistic golfing experience to date. Players will also have the ability to customise their own player with licensed apparel and gear from global brands such as Adidas, Ralph Lauren and Callaway Golf. And of course, players can create the ultimate links with the game’s course designer.
