Nintendo Has Launched Its Own Music Streaming Service For Switch Online Subscribers

Kirby’s Stream Buffet

It feels like it’s been an exceptionally busy few weeks for Nintendo as far as new announcements and launches, with the company seemingly content to drop everything but Switch 2 news, and its latest procrastinatory effort comes in the way of Nintendo Music – a dedicated music streaming app packed with original soundtracks from some of the company’s most memorable video games.

Surprise launching on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, Nintendo Music is exclusive to active Nintendo Switch Online members (including those on the base-level membership and free trials) and currently boasts album collections from more than 20 titles including recent Switch bangers like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing: New Horizons all the way back to classics like Metroid Prime, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island and Donkey Kong Country.

And because it’s a Nintendo joint, the app packs some pretty nifty and creative added features, like the ability to browse the available music by game screenshots, receive new recommendations from games you’re playing on Nintendo Switch, hide any potential spoilers and even loop or extend tracks up to an hour long so you can put your fave bops on in the background, uninterrupted. It wouldn’t be a music streaming app without some fun, curated playlists and the ability to make and share your own, as well.

Naturally, Nintendo is already promising even more music to be added to the library as time goes on, making this a pretty decent bit of value add for the already-very-reasonable Nintendo Switch Online service.
