So it’s been over a month now, and the hype train for Mortal Kombat 11’s post release support is reaching a fever pitch.
For those out of the know, the Mortal Kombat/Injustice franchises are well known for their post-release addition of characters to the game, giving players new faces to beat up or master.
Series co-creator Ed Boon finally dropped the bomb, announcing via tweet that the news is coming soon:
Fingers Krossed…. if all goes well, next week we will be announcing the fighters that will be joining Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat 11’s DLC !! pic.twitter.com/ewaRTZFUji
— Ed Boon (@noobde) May 27, 2019
However, the Boonster knows full well just how speculative the fighting game community is – with every minor tweet or sneeze for the last month being devoured and dissembled with mad theories, so of course after announcing that the news is coming – he went full cryptic (kryptic?):
What a brilliant movie ALIENS was.
— Ed Boon (@noobde) May 27, 2019
‘ALIENS’ eh? I mean, that’s a film – and the Xenomorph was in Mortal Kombat X, and ALIENS was directed by James Cameron, who also directed Terminator 2… My god, Arnie is coming to MORTAL KOMBAT!?
I better get my clothes, boots and motorcycle ready!
However, he gets a little weirder in other tweets:

DriLlCap. DriLlCap. Right. So, let me get my pad.
First off, the letters D L C are capitalised. I mean, fair enough, it’s likely DLC related. This leaves us with the letters: rilap. This could be unjumbled to read ‘April’, but unsure how that affects things.
The image of the Mortal Kombat 4 arcade cabinet marquee however suggests that one of the characters in the first DLC pack will be from MK4, so we may be looking at Fujin!
At least the next tweet is a little less odd:

I mean, it’s a bit less odd. At it’s core however, the image is a GREEN AXE, which to me says:
Everyone’s favourite axe wielding native american could well make a return.
And finally, the most recent tweet may well just be a huge troll to fans of the purple ninja, Rain:
"I never meant to cause you any pain……"
– Prince pic.twitter.com/uFPPHe2EmS— Ed Boon (@noobde) May 31, 2019
Why a troll you ask? Well, back when MKX was released, Ed Boon mentioned that previous DLC characters will never be offered as DLC characters again to avoid consumers making repeat purchases – and Rain was DLC in Mortal Kombat 9.
So this image? Likely a kick to the guts.
Or, we are getting a purple Sub Zero skin. Kick to the guts AND a tap to the balls.
Regardless of the fevered madness we are all engaging in, the ACTUAL dlc announcement is apparently coming tomorrow, so we only need to suffer a while longer.
…Then the wait for the next Kombat Pack begins, with all new clues.
Hoo boy, let me get my pad ready…
