Another month another set of free games for PlayStation Plus members to download. June saw a shooter-heavy month, with Call of Duty: WWII and Star Wars Battlefront 2 leading the charge. July will not only be a bit more diverse than that, but it will also include an extra game, a theme and a free multiplayer weekend.
It was announced over on the PlayStation Blog that starting July 7, PlayStation Plus members will be able to pick up NBA 2K20, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Erica. The free theme will be dropping later this week in celebration of 10 years of PS Plus. Rounding out the free offerings, a free multiplayer weekend will run from July 4-6, so you can jump online with that one mate that refuses to buy Plus.
If it wasn’t already obvious, NBA 2K20 is the latest entry into the long-running basketball series that’s insanely popular. If you’re saddened by the lack of NBA season this year, grabbing 2K20 for free might help ease the pain.
Old Lara Croft took a backseat to Nathan Drake for a good while as the primary treasure hunter in gaming, but the rebooted series by Crystal Dynamics went a long way to balance things back out. Rise of the Tomb Raider is the second instalment in this brilliant series and it’s absolutely worth playing if you haven’t already (we gave it a 9.3).
The additional game this month is an interesting one. Touted as being an ‘interactive thriller”, Erica is a live-action experience that has the player make decisions that help decide the fate of the titular Erica Mason as she searches for her father’s killer.
Be sure to download Call of Duty: WWII and Star Wars Battlefront II before they leave Plus on July 6.
Are you happy with July’s lineup? Did you download either of this month’s games? Let us know.
