Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days Is Getting A Steam Demo Later This Month

Our Darkest Days are soon upon us

Developer PikPok has announced a demo for its upcoming survival-horror title, Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days, will be available on Steam from October 28.

Set after an apocalyptic event in Texas during the 1980s, Our Darkest Days is a side-scrolling survival game with base management elements. Playing as various survivors that can be lost to permadeath, players are tasked with exploring dilapidated cities and suburban areas for supplies while avoiding fighting or outrunning the undead.

Developed by the Aotearoa New Zealand team, PikPok, Our Darkest Days is the debut PC release in the Into the Dead series, with the previous games residing in the mobile space. During PAX Aus last year, I went hands-on with Our Darkest Days and was impressed by its unique setting and tense gameplay. “The core gameplay felt tight, the combat, while reserved as a final option, was weighty, and the 1980s Texas setting shone through. The zombie genre is a crowded one, but I’m hoping that Into the Dead manages to have as much substance as it does style in its full release to let it stand out among the horde.”

We don’t have a solid release date for Our Darkest Days just yet, but PikPok has said that the game will be heading into Steam early access in 2025. The demo announcement comes alongside a short new trailer that shows the game’s variety in gameplay and sombre tone.
