It was a double dose of news for Horizon fans during this morning’s PlayStation State of Play presentation, with not only the reveal of the release date for LEGO Horizon Adventures but an official confirmation of the long-rumoured Horizon Zero Dawn remaster, simply titled Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

After what feels like an eternity of “leaks,” we now finally know that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is very real, and coming to both PS5 and PC quite soon on October 31st.

As revealed during the presentation, this remaster is essentially an effort to bring the original game more in line with 2022’s Horizon Forbidden West, in terms of presentation and modern features. Produced as an effort between both Guerrilla and regular PlayStation PC studio, Nixxes, and will sport a host of graphical upgrades from updated character models to new animations, textures, lighting and everything in-between and, at least based on what we’ve seen so far, it definitely looks incredible.

The trailer and blog post also reveal that the team has included 10 hours of new recorded dialogue and new motion capture as part of that effort to bring the game up to parity with Forbidden West. Or even beyond, given this title will also feature native support for the PlayStation 5 Pro from launch with “a range of graphical features” that are yet to be fully detailed.

Also new to the remaster will be a completely updated audio mix that includes support for the PS5’s Tempest 3D Audio Tech, and of course DualSense controller features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Improved accessibility/approachability features based on Forbidden West will be included, and the PC version of the game will include PlayStation Overlay and Trophy support,

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will be available as a paid upgrade (USD $9.99 with Aussie pricing TBC) for those that own the original game on PS5 or PC, whether it’s the base game or the Complete Edition, and those who obtained the game via PlayStation’s “Play at Home” initiative back during COVID-19 lockdown times are also eligible. Save data from the original version will also carry across.

You can find more information on the PlayStation Blog.
