Hogwarts Legacy was a hit last year, making it one of the biggest releases of 2023. Since then, fans have jumped into the newly released Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions and re-played other titles, such as the LEGO Harry Potter games. But nothing compares to your first-ever playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy. Players have been waiting for more information on Hogwarts Legacy, around anything that might expand the experience, and they’re in luck. Thanks to Variety, we now know the next Hogwarts Legacy is in production and will have a linked HBO series.
This sequel is a “very big priority” for Warner Bros, which likely means fans new and old can get excited for another fantastic experience in the wizarding world. However, Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad has mentioned something ground-breaking, the games team have been bringing together large story-telling elements featured in Hogwarts Legacy 2 and linking them with the upcoming Harry Potter HBO series from Warner Bros. Television.
Due to this reveal, we can expect big moments in the upcoming sequel that could be mentioned to some degree in the new Harry Potter series. The upcoming HBO series is expected to release in 2026, which could result in a couple of year’s wait for Hogwarts Legacy 2 if they want to release it around the same time. Luckily for players, the wait won’t be for nothing, David Haddad also added that the team has acknowledged that fans want to see more from JK Rowling’s world, which has resulted in them spending a lot of time thinking and building an authentic experience for players to enjoy.
Although there is much to look forward to with these next editions in the Harry Potter world, it should be noted this is all the information we currently know. We do not know if Hogwarts Legacy 2 will continue on from the original, or will be similar in single-player style, with no micro-transactions, and no co-op mode. Hopefully, we will see the world expand and get to join our friends on the journey, but for now, fans can get excited for the next instalment in the Hogwarts Legacy world.
