Hideo Kojima has confirmed that he will not be directing the Death Stranding film adaptation but is still “deeply involved.”
Taking to Twitter, the enigmatic developer addressed rumours and speculation surrounding his involvement in the previously-announced Death Stranding film, saying that while he isn’t directing the movie, he is “deeply involved in producing, supervising, plotting, look, design and content of the film adaptation of DS.”
While there will undoubtedly be those disappointed that Kojima isn’t sitting in the director’s chair, this clarification does provide hope that the adaptation will be faithfully odd and interesting, just like the source material. Kojima’s input is vital, not only as the creator of Death Stranding but also because “70% of my body is made of movies,” according to Kojima himself.
Just to be clear, I am deeply involved in producing, supervising, plotting, look, design and content of the film adaptation of DS, just not in charge of directing.

We don’t have much in the way of solid information on the Death Stranding film, but we do know that it’s being produced thanks to a partnership between Kojima Productions and Hammerstone Studios.
