Harvey Norman has apparently cancelled almost all but the bare minimum of preorders for the limited edition Animal Crossing themed Nintendo Switch just before release. Apparently a result of stock issues, hundreds of eager customers received the dismaying news, leaving many crushed. According to Vooks, who claimed to have contacted many people affected by this situation, only the first “6 people will get their console at their store”. While this is in regard to a Victorian store, similar treatment of preorders would probably exist at other Harvey Norm stores across the country.
This is true to form for Harvey Norman who has previously had insanely cheap games and then asked customers to way for supply to meet demand. While the cancellation of preorders is still quite different from making customers wait for their product, the retailer is still quite infamous for its handling of gaming products.
Our condolences to those affected, we hope you can at least get a copy of the game today as it finally releases exclusively on Nintendo Switch. Our review for the game isn’t quite ready yet, for reasons which you can read here, but you can expect it to be up in the near future!
