It’s not very often that I write specifically about game soundtracks, in fact I don’t think I have ever done it, but Ghostrunner is a special subject. Not only is the game great, with WellPlayed’s Kieron Verbrugge scoring the game a 9/10 in his review, but it features one of the best soundtracks of the year thanks to Daniel Deluxe’s collection of synthwave bangers, which is high praise considering we’ve had some bloody rippers this year – such as the Streets of Rage 4 soundtrack.
To let you in on a little secret, when I had access to the Steam demo earlier this year, I actually recorded gameplay of me doing nothing purely so I could rip the audio tracks as mp3s. But now the full soundtrack is available on major streaming services (such as Spotify below), however if you want to support the artist directly, you can purchase the soundtrack from Daniel Deluxe’s Bandcamp page for just under A$15.
Either way, treat yourself to some glorious synthwave below:
Ghostrunner is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. A free next-gen update is coming for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S next year.
