KupoCon, a fan event for the popular MMO, Final Fantasy XIV, has let out a statement today explaining that this year’s guest, Susan Calloway, has been uninvited due to allegations of racist and transphobic behaviour. Calloway is best known for her role in singing the tracks “Answers” and “Dragonsong” in the aforementioned MMO and its Heavensward expansion, respectively.
Today has been a troubling day for the Final Fantasy community. In light of recent events, we announce that Susan Calloway will no longer be attending our upcoming event in Toronto. We will do our utmost to secure another guest in time for Pom East, but it may be difficult due to…

The allegations recently came to light as people noticed that Calloway’s Twitter activity displayed signs of sharing dangerous, anti-trans and anti-Islam rhetoric. Calloway first responded, claiming that her account was hacked which was quickly dismissed as users noted it would be bizarre for someone to hack a Twitter account just to like some tweets. Calloway has since deleted her account, but not before users managed to screenshot various instances of the singer liking tweets that are solely bigoted at best, and dangerous at worst.
Some users also noted that Calloway’s Instagram display similar levels of rhetoric, with infamous conservative psychologist and media commentator, Jordan B. Peterson, being among the many questionable accounts she follows on the Meta platform.
It is a sad day for people who supported her, but given that the Final Fantasy XIV community prides itself on inclusivity, the decision to rescind an invitation to a fan event makes complete sense; no bigotry allowed.
