Want to know the quickest way to this particular writer’s heart? Just use the wordsย Final Fantasy VIII.ย It’s the game that not only introduced me to the wonderful RPG/JRPG genre but to a world and characters that helped shape my childhood years and have stuck with me ever since. There are a lot of games that I love and that I would consider some of the best of all time, but FFVIII holds a place in my heart as probably my all-time favourite game.
So when news broke that Final Fantasy VIII was coming to modern platforms as a tidied-up HD remaster you can bet that my heart skipped a beat. I didn’t think I’d feel that same feeling about the game again until it was out, either, but here we are with a surprise release date announcement of September 3rd, 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
That’sย two weeks from now.
Holy shit am I pumped right now, dear readers. Fuck Gamescom, fuck whatever pretty great game I’m playing for review right now that I can’t tell you about, fuck it all.ย Two. Weeks.ย
As of writing the game is available for digital preorder in the US on the Xbox and PlayStation stores as well as Steam. Nothing on the Australian front yet but I’d expect those to go live today as well.
TWO WEEKS!!
