The first month of PlayStation Plus games are in the books, so let’s look at what’s coming up next. In January we were treated to Maneater, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and GreedFall, which is a decent selection, but it looks as though it will be eclipsed. February’s free PS Plus games have just been announced on the PlayStation Blog and it’s a pretty impressive spread. PS Plus members can look forward to playing Destructions AllStars (PS5), Control: Ultimate Edition and Concrete Genie during the second month of the year, with all three games being available for download from February 2.
We’ve known that Destruction AllStars was going to be a part of February’s line-up since it got delayed in October last year, but the wait is almost over. A hero-based destruction derby title, AllStars has a lot of character and looks like a hell of a lot of fun. With a range of different game modes, 16 characters to choose from, plenty of cosmetics and gameplay that looks both entertaining and satisfying, this one might knock Rocket League off its perch for me (for a little while at least). Keep in mind that Destruction AllStars is a PS5 exclusive and won’t be available on PS4.
Featuring a story and setting that would make Twin Peaks blush, Control was a bit of a sleeper hit of 2019 that many are still yet to play (we gave it an 8). Physics-mocking gameplay and challenging puzzles are just the beginning with this third-person action shooter from Remedy Entertainment. Taking control (get it) of Jesse Faden, you’ll uncover the mysteries behind the Federal Bureau of Control while taking part in gunfights littered with extraordinary powers. The Ultimate Edition also includes The Foundation and AWE expansions while also unlocking the PS5 version of the game.
Last, but definitely not least is the creative and heart-warming Concrete Genie. Set in the rundown fishing port of Denska, you, as Ash, are tasked with bringing life, hope and colour back into your now depressing home. By using a magic paintbrush you’ll create genies that will help you solve puzzles and traverse Denska in this wildly creative and thought-provoking puzzle platformer (we gave it a 9.5). If you haven’t given Concrete Genie a go then you absolutely should this coming month.
Don’t forget about January’s PS Plus titles, you have until February 1 to download them before they disappear.
What do you think about February’s free games? Did you play any on the games in January’s line-up? Let us know.
