Overnight, Ubisoft unveiled to us that its widely popular open-world first-person shooter, Far Cry, would be receiving another iteration in the form of Far Cry 5. The last entry into the series was Far Cry Primal and that received a relatively warm reception, the main negatives for it being the lack of innovation (sticking to the tried and true Far Cry formula) and the average story. Currently, the game is set to release some time before March 31st, which leaves a large window for it to release. It wouldn’t surprise me if we saw it showcased at Ubisoft’s E3 press-conference which a release date of later this year.
Unfortunately, the details outside of the game’s existence are next to none. All we have is the logo. As previously covered by our friends over at Press-Start, rumours had suggested that the next Far Cry game will be set in the Wild, Wild, West. Ubisoft has neither confirmed or denied this so it is still possible that they are looking to release a Far Cry game to combat the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 (while also having their game release on PC).
Ubisoft also announced that the new Assassin’s Creed game, The Crew 2 and South Park: Fractured But Whole would release within the next year, as reported by IGN.
