One of Sony’s big ticket exclusives for the year, Detroit: Become Human, has gone gold as of (very early) this morning. Developer, Quantic Dream’s last title was Beyond Two Souls which received mixed review and scored 72 on OpenCritic and the developer is known for largely cinematic, movie-like experiences with games.
To celebrate the game going gold, players can now download a free demo of the game ahead of it’s launch on May 25th.
Detroit: Become Human is set in a dystopian vision of our near future. Based in the city of Detroit (where the title comes from), it follows the story of three androids designed to obey, who start to feel emotions. The demo will put players in the shoes of Connor, an android hostage negotiator, as he attempts to talk down an armed rogue android who has turned on his family.
Quantic Dream Co-CEO/Executive Producer, Guillaume de Fondaumiere, as well as Production Director, Sophie Buhl took to the PlayStation Blog to talk about this news, stating “During these four years, we have gone through all possible states and emotions that the development of such a challenging project induces: the pride of working on something special and unique, the doubt of attaining all our creative and technical goals, the hope when publicly releasing scenes and trailers and seeing players’ positive reactions, the fear of not having enough time and resources to make everything perfect, the joy of finally seeing all parts of the puzzle come together, scene after scene, and finally being able to play the game from start to finish.” If you would like to read the full post, click here.
Detroit: Become Human is set to release on May 25th exclusively for the PlayStation 4 ecosystem.
