Castle Crashers Announces New DLC To Paint Your Own Castle Crasher

I anticipate some turgid monstrosities to come

No, this announcement isn’t out of time – you read that right. The co-op classic Castle Crashers has announced an upcoming DLC that will let players create their very own crasher of castles, with all manner of magical chicanery to have it automatically animate and look right at home within the side scrolling world of knights and nincompoops.

Introduced by none other than the Painter boss, the concept is simple – let’s work together to make some new faces to play as:

A little out of left field, I definitely didn’t have “Castle Crashers DLC” on my bingo card for 2024. Nor did I expect a 16 year old game to get this kind of love and attention – though I am not saying it isn’t deserving of it.

As for full details, besides the dulcet toned explanation the video also has the following on offer within the description:

The paid DLC will include:
– Steam workshop capabilities: create your own knight skins, choose your magic, and share with the world!
– New official character: play as Paint Junior, use your imagination, and create powerful art to vanquish your foes!
– New player and weapon artwork for all official playable characters (with an option to toggle on or off).

So people will be able to paint their own knights. This will be both incredible, and likely deeply disturbing. There is a literal gaming term that refers to ‘TTP‘, or ‘Time-to-penis‘, which refers to how quickly a player will resort to drawing a dong once they are given the freedom to create within a game space.

So, to quote the legendary Star-Lord:

The other neat factoid is the redrawn sprites for existing characters – considering the game has 28 or so crashers to unlock and play as, this means that there has been a huge sweep of facelifts for these familiar friends and foes.

As for a release date – well, the Painter is clear in saying that this is just the announce trailer, so you will need to wait for that information. Might be a great opportunity to practice your doodles in preparation for the masterpiece you will create.

And by doodles I mean wangs, of course.
