Capcom’s NEXT showcase took place today, revealing all manner of upcoming goodies and development stories for what the company is cooking up – with big showcase items such as the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster and Resident Evil 7’s iOS port getting a healthy look.
But a tasty portion came from a positively tiny little snippet shared at the very end of the presentation, with the director of Resident Evil 7, Koshi Nakanishi, confirming that a new game was on the way – and that he is helming the project.

Apart from that, there was not much to be said about the next chapter of Resident Evil, with only a quick comment on how it wasn’t as simple as plotting the next chapter – but that there is some excitement on their end with the direction they are going. Quote:
“It was difficult to figure out what to do after Resident Evil 7, But I found it, and to be honest it feels substantial. I can’t share any details yet but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.”
Given that there are already leaked listings for such a title, it would stand to reason that the project is quite far along. While this acknowledgement is a firm confirmation from the end of Capcom, there is still a whole other journey to take with a proper reveal and debut of what to actually expect. But alas, that will be another day – and another Capcom showcase.
