Activision has announced two weekend-long multiplayer beta periods for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 that will be available across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
With Black Ops 6 shaping up to be one of the more exciting entries in the long-running franchise in quite some time, it’s likely that there are a fair few folks looking to get in early to dip their beaks. Well, we now know when the beta periods will be running and exactly how they will be going down, and it’s a far cry from years gone by.
The first beta weekend is classified as early access and will run between August 31 and September 4. This beta will be available for those who pre-order the game and, importantly, all players with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
The second is an open beta that will be available to all players, regardless of console or pre-orders, and will run between September 7 and September 9.
This Call of Duty release is significant, as it stands as the first game in the franchise to be released after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizard King. The biggest news to come from this has been Black Ops 6’s inclusion on Game Pass, but the beta headline comes with a revelation of its own. Not only will this be the first Call of Duty beta to take place on all platforms at once, forgoing the long-upheld tradition of PlayStation weekends, but the needle has swung in the other direction, with Game Pass subscribers getting access without a pre-order.
