People tuning into the Warcraft 30 Year Anniversary presentation today were warned of at least one special surprise to come out of it – and sure enough, a shocking little note was made towards the end of the showcase.
A small animated clip was quite clear in showing an Adventurer returning home for a rest. Passing a wall of trophies and eventually settling in with a mug of their favourite beverage. This is not just any home – this is their home.
It’s an assumption that this may well be a flagship feature of the upcoming World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion – given that it’s slightly massive as far as new feature implementations go.
In recent years we have seen World of Warcraft engage quite deeply with players in relation to their character fantasy, with a huge push to make player identity a precious thing within the game. Removing limitations on character customisation, delivering far more customisable creation tools and even leaning deep into the games dress up wardrobes means that players are more attached to their avatars than ever before – so why not make the logical step in letting them hang their feet up.
The teaser didn’t reveal a great deal on what to expect – although we can absolutely see that the space on offer suggests it will be quite customisable – so people keen to learn more will need to keep their eyes glued for further news.
What do you think? Are you ready to call somewhere home after 20 years of World of Warcraft? Does the rug really tie the room together? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
