We might be a while away from seeing Bioware’s next iteration of the Dragon Age franchise, but according to Bioware General Manager Gary McKay, Dragon Age Dreadwolf has passed the all important Alpha milestone.
What does that mean? In short, an alpha allows the development team to play the entire game from beginning to end as one complete experience. As opposed to a beta, this means Bioware has put together a vision for Dreadwolf but can continue to make major changes based on in-testing feedback.
“Of course, the game is not finished by any means,” says McKay via a blog post update, “but Alpha is one of the most important game development milestones for a number of reasons. First and foremost, we can now turn our sights toward bringing the visual fidelity to its final form and iterating on gameplay features.”
The update might not provide any further insight into what to expect from the much-anticipated sequel, nor a potential release window, but at least we can be a little more at ease that Dragon Age Dreadwolf is (hopefully) coming together well, and that the next update might clue us in as to when we can get our hands on it. Said update might just drop on Dragon Age Day, which usually falls on December 4.
Meanwhile, Bioware are also hard at work at the next Mass Effect, another anticipated release we remain largely in the dark about. Could we see an update on that front during N7 day this November? Let us know what you think the chances are of that, and how you’re feeling about the new Dragon Age, down in the comments below and on our socials.
