Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 has completed the Infinity Gauntlet of prestigious game awards by taking home every major Game of the Year offering in the industry, rounding out their cabinet at the 20th British Academy Video Game Awards by snagging the big one.
Baldur’s Gate 3 takes home 5 awards across Narrative, Music, Performer in a Supporting Role, Best Game, and the Player’s Choice award at the #BAFTAGamesAwards!

We are so proud of our entire team - none of this would have been possible without their hard work and dedication! pic.twitter.com/ij4Euo0VkN
But Baldur’s Gate 3 didn’t just take the big one home, they also nabbed the golden masks for Music, Narrative and the EE Players’ Choice Award – the latter probably netting the biggest response from Michael Douse, director of publishing, who noted that ideally it is their audience that they strive to impress the most:
Player’s Choice award is the most meaningful suggestion that we’re doing something right, something resonant. Recognition from peers is always appreciated, but recognition from the players just hits different. You are our audience and, ultimately, those who understand us most
However it must be noted that by picking up the biggest gong at the BAFTAs, Baldur’s Gate 3 has managed to edge out other massive titles like Elden Ring and Breath of the Wild by picking up all of the five major GOTY awards:
- Golden Joysticks
- Game Developers Choice
- DICE
- The Game Awards
- BAFTAs
I can only imagine the contractor being called to the studio to make sure their trophy shelf is reinforced – that bad boy must be under some serious strain.

It’s not really a surprise, given that anyone with a pulse has found no problem lavishing praise upon the game – drawing immense focus to the title having a very player-centric feel and quality (despite the bugs). Our own Jordan Garcia dropped a neat little 10/10 on the game, saying that “game is nothing short of a masterpiece.”
It’s hard to argue with such a sentiment – one that is clearly shared, considering that the WellPlayed Game Awards of 2023 also named the title as our own Game of the Year. So Larian Studios can add that prestigious honour to their ever-growing list of accolades.
