Big Ant Studios has confirmed that AFL 23‘s hotly-anticipated Pro Team mode is currently in the testing phase for PlayStation and PC platforms.
In a tweet, the Melbourne-based developer says that it will announce the mode’s launch date when “that becomes clear.” Interestingly, there’s no mention of where the mode is at for the Xbox version, which earlier today was further delayed into August. Given that the delay was attributed to stock delivery issues, the lack of information about the mode on Xbox is a concern.
AFL 23 Pro Team Announcement
AFL 23 Pro Team for Steam, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 is currently in testing phase, it will be released when that is complete. We will advise an exact date when that becomes clear.— Big Ant Studios (@BigAntStudios) June 16, 2023
Pro Team is AFL 23’s answer to EA’s Ultimate Team, which allows players to build a team and compete online using cards acquired through playing or purchasing. It’s somewhat disappointing that the mode still appears to be ways off given it was showcased in the game’s launch trailer, alluding to its inclusion on day one. Hopefully, when the mode does go live the game will be in a better state that what it is currently.
