A Sequel To Alien: Isolation Has Finally Been Announced Ten Years After The Release Of The First Game

The perfect horror organism lives

Developer Creative Assembly has announced that a sequel to the horror title Alien: Isolation is currently in the works.

During the 10-year celebration of Alien: Isolation, Creative Director Al Hope released a statement on the game’s X account, recounting the process of creating within the Alien franchise and thanking players past and present. It’s the end of this statement that brings the noise, though, as Hope pivots to the “distress calls” that have been sent out by the fans.

Speaking about the series’ future, Hope said, “I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”

This will be an exciting announcement for many, with Isolation garnering a lot of love when it was released back in 2014. To this day, I haven’t managed to complete the game, purely out of fear that my heart will explode. This is thanks to the eerily intelligent Alien AI that persistently hunts you throughout the Sevastopol Station. It’ll be great to see what Creative Assembly can cook up for a sequel now that technology in game development has evolved and improved.

Moreover, it’s welcome news to hear that Creative Assembly has moved on to a new project following the cancellation of its multiplayer extraction shooter, Hyenas. Sega made the call to axe the live-service title late in its development due to forecasted profit reports failing to meet expectations, binning that and other projects in development. Thankfully, Creative Assembly has endured, and we now know it’s back in the horror hot seat.
