While some incredible titles are already in the works, the parent company of THQ Nordic is having a bit of trouble. Embracer Group has had a dire financial period after a spending spree, where they ended up owning Saber Interactive, Dark Horse Media, Deep Silver, and most recently the likes of Crystal Dynamics, Square Enix Montréal, and Eidos-Montréal less than 12 months ago. The news was less good for Campfire Cabal, which saw it’s doors slam shut at the start of this month.
So the showcase may well be a confirmation of what games they can still afford to produce – with titles such as Gothic and the rebooted Alone In The Dark still well and truly cooking along.
What surprises may be in store is anyone’s guess – with the likes of the Darksiders, Destroy All Humans and SpongeBob SquarePants franchises under their belt, we may yet see a new entry or remaster popping up out of nowhere.
The curtain will be drawn back in just a day of waiting, so we can get a good look at what the future of THQ Nordic may look like.
I hope it’s positive, I don’t think my heart could handle another THQ bankruptcy tale.
Any THQ Nordic titles on your radar for the showcase? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
