A Halo Modder Brought Minecraft Into Halo 3

Wreaking Havok on those voxels

If you had told me that I would still be playing the classic Halo games in 2022 because Halo Infinite is in such a bad state almost one year since its release I would not have believed you, but here we are. There was always a good chance of the classic Halo games getting some new life breathed into them with mods ever since The Master Chief Collection hit PC. I am here to bring you good news, modders have gone crazy with all the mod tools that are available and one such modder has brought in a small indie game called Minecraft into Halo 3. You read that right. Minecraft but in Halo 3…sort of.

Popular modder, InfernoPlus, who is perhaps best known for his work on the Cursed Halo mod, has spent what can only be described as a painstakingly long time bringing the voxel-based world into Halo 3’s multiplayer and made a video about it. Obviously, it doesn’t play anything like Minecraft, as it can be more easily described as Minecraft-themed maps and a classic map being voxel-ified (yeah that is totally a word), but the result is impressive nonetheless. InfernoPlus went so far as creating specific behaviours for chunks of blocks to properly react with the Havok physics engine that Halo 3 uses and the results are really cool.

As is the case with pretty much any game mod, this is exclusive to the PC version of Halo 3 on MCC. What is cool to note, however, is that this mod can be installed on the Game Pass/Windows Store version of the game, a trait that isn’t very common amongst games on that platform. InfernoPlus has the download links for the mod over on his Patreon but you do not need to be a subscriber/patron to access these links, he just does not like Nexus Mods. The link to that page can be found here.

Do you have Halo 3 on PC? Will you be trying this mod with your friends? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
