November 2024’s PlayStation Plus Essential Games Have Been Revealed

Another eclectic bundle

Today is the spookiest time of the year, but November is knocking at the door, and so is the most frightening being of all: Mariah Carey. Yep, the “most wonderful time of the year” is fast approaching, but we can all collectively ignore that and just play games, yeah? Perfect, in that case, let’s look at what’s on the horizon for PlayStation’s subscription service.

As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, November’s PlayStation Plus Essentials games are Hot Wheels Unleashed 2—Turbocharged, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Death Note Killer Within. These three games will be available for download on November 5.

As a kid, I was pretty obsessed with Hot Wheels cars, so the first Hot Wheels Unleashed game was a nice little nostalgic treat. It helped that the game was actually a banger, with solid racing, insane attention to detail, and offering a decent challenge. Unleashed 2 is, as the name suggests, Supercharged, adding new vehicles like monster trucks and ATVs, new skills, and new environments that include the great outdoors. We largely enjoyed the sequel, giving it an 8 in our review, and we think it’s a pretty good get for PS Plus.

Set in Tokyo during a supernatural phenomenon that sees people disappear into thin air, you play as Akito, a man with mystical abilities to fight back against the demonic threats now prowling the dense city. The set-up and atmosphere in Ghostwire: Toyko are top-tier, but the spell-slinging gameplay won’t be for everyone. Thankfully, as it will be free for PS Plus subscribers, you’ll get to find out for yourself. This was a new IP swing for developer Tango Gamesworks, before they hit gold with Hi-F-i Rush, were shuttered by Microsoft, and then revived by Krafton. Geez, what a ride for them. We gave Ghostwire: Tokyo a 7.5 in our review.

It’s always cool to see a new release game hit PlayStation Plus or Game Pass on day one, but it’s even sweeter when that game is revealed just days before. Death Note Killer Within is a social Deduction party game in the same vein as Among Us. Up to ten players are split into teams, either following L, who is trying to uncover the identity of the killer, or Kira, who is in control of the eponymous Death Note and responsible for the untimely deaths of other players. It will find an audience with fans of the series but might take off with a wider community as well, considering its influence.

If you haven’t downloaded WWE 2K24Dead Space, and Doko Doki Literature Club Plus! you’ve got until November 4 to do so. As always, please remember that you can add these games to your library and download them later if you don’t have any precious space on your hard drive.

Which game will you be downloading first? What games would you like to see in December? Let us know in the comments or on our social media.
