Season 11 of Overwatch 2 is now live, offering players the chance to get involved as Ultrawatch faces Mythic Calamity Empress Ashe – she has risen to power, and it’s up to Ultrawatch to stop her. But will the power of teamwork be enough to stand against the Empress’s wicked reign or will she conquer and rule the world?
It’s an awesome premise for some fun cosmetic options, and the “Rita-Repulsa-only-not” vibes from the Mythic Calamity Empress Ashe skin are spot-on – but as a small green Star Wars guy once said, there is another.
You see, this season actually has two Mythic offerings within it – marking a substantial shift from prior seasons.

Initially a single Mythic skin would await you at the end of your standard Battle Pass progress, until Season 10 came along and switched things up a tad. Some players offered a valid point that sometimes the Mythic skin for a season wasn’t for a character they played, and they’d rather work towards something else if possible – and so Mythic Prisms got introduced.
As a currency, you can earn enough Mythic Prisms from the Battle Pass to buy a Mythic skin of your choice from within the Overwatch store. Simple enough, now you can bank up your prisms if the season’s big tickets item isn’t to your fancy. Of course you can also outright buy Mythic Prisms if you are so inclined – as an option for the fiscally endowed and time poor among us.
But within Season 11, there is a new quirk to this system – because Season 11: Super Mega Ultrawatch technically has two Mythic offerings.
Showcased within the Season 11 trailer, a Mythic Weapon option for Reinhardt is to be introduced. Weapon skins are still quite new to Overwatch 2, with a smattering of Heroic tier options already being available for a selection of characters. A Mythic weapon, however, comes with a great deal more pizazz – including custom sound and visual effects at a basic tier, but if you spend more Mythic Prisms to update it you will also get a Weapon Flourish emote, elimination visual effects, and reactive effects.

Stay tuned to unlock incredible powers with the Mythic Bound Demon Reinhardt Weapon Skin, coming July 23. This dynamic weapon will unleash the fury of a demon with every swing. Flourish your hammer by spinning it in the air. Defeat your foes and watch as the demon’s power grows in every match you play. You’ll be calling out “Big Slam!” as opponents fall to a fiery surge through every Earthshatter.
The clincher here is that if you do the math, you absolutely cannot unlock both the Calamity Empress Ashe skin AND the Bound Demon Reinhardt Weapon. At least, not with the standard amount of Mythic Prisms unlocked via a regular paid Battle Pass.

It is a curious point – and quite a disruptive one, at least to the status quo of Overwatch 2 season progression. For completionists, shooting through your Battle Pass and nabbing the super nifty skin at the end of it all was simple, familiar. Now people need to have a think about what particular flavour of swag truly tickles their fancy.
I know I am personally rubbish with Ashe, so my choice is made a great deal easier by hundreds of hours played on Reinhardt. But for others, it may mark the first time they have ever had to consider where their Mythic Prisms end up.
Overwatch 2 Season 11: Super Mega Ultrawatch is available right now, so players will be progressing their Battle Pass and getting those Prisms right away – but be mindful, Reinhardt’s Mythic weapon skin is scheduled for the mid-season update on July 23, so don’t get over excited and accidentally unlock evil queen Ashe by accident.
