The Final Piece Of The Ace Attorney Remaster Puzzle Is Coming In September

I am genuinely buzzing with excitement here

Back at the start of the year when I was reviewing the Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy, I had a troubling moment of recollection when I realised that I had forgotten all about the Ace Attorney Investigations spin off game. A side experience helmed by the oh-so brilliant Miles Edgeworth and starring other members of his incredible family? New gameplay experiences that focused on the investigative side of things? More Gumshoe antics? Man, what a bummer.

A cursory Google reminded me of what I had missed, but further added to my dilemma when I discovered that the game also had a sequel that was never localized. An entire limb of the Ace Attorney tree was not just out of reach – it was inaccessible.

So I spared a thought to how cool it would be if the Ace Attorney collection efforts would stray into the territory on AA: Investigations – and Capcom you scoundrel, how you spoil me.

Not only has the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection been announced, the bloody thing is coming out real soon:

With all the accoutrements one would expect from the standard Ace Attorney remaster faire, the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection bundles up the classic Nintendo DS titles of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit – sexying up the visuals and bringing the games to every modern platform your can imagine, barring perhaps your Samsung Smart Fridge. Awesome features seen in the previous collections are all present, but the big win here is the fact that the second game has a full range of language options to ensure that all the people external to Japan can now play it without resorting to a crowd-sourced ROM translation from the dark web. This includes new voice dubs for each language, so yelling OBJECTION! is multinational.

This collection means that Ace Attorney fans that missed Edgeworth’s second outing can also finally enjoy his logic based “Mind Chess” (seriously, what a cool feature name) to beat opponents in a match of wits, delving into their person and figuring out where the truth lies. You literally knock their piece off their mind board to figure out why they are fibbing. It’s awesome.

Slated for release on September 6 this year, the platform list is also magnificent – with preorders live across Steam, Nintendo Switch eStore and both Microsoft Xbox and PlayStation store offerings.

There is also the tasty thought to dwell on, that if these are indeed the final Ace Attorney outings left to remaster and re-release – could we possibly be looking at an opportunity for Capcom to greenlight a new entry in the series? God knows, but isn’t it a nice thought to have.

Are you excited to get reacquainted with the Edgeworth method of investigation? Tell us all about it in the comments or on social media.
