Death Stranding Is Getting A Film Adaptation; Kojima Productions Partnering With Hammerstone Studios

Building connections in a new way

Kojima Productions have announced a partnership with Hammerstone Studios to produce a film adaptation of Death Stranding.

No casting or plot details have been revealed at this stage, but the announcement does state that the film will “introduce new elements and characters within the Death Stranding universe.” Alex Lebovici, the Executive Producer of Barbarian and Founder of Hammerstone Studios, said, “Our goal is to redefine what a video game adaptation could be when you have creative and artistic freedom. This film will be an authentic ‘Hideo Kojima’ production.”

“I couldn’t be more excited about this new partnership with Hammerstone Studios,” said Hideo Kojima. “This is a pivotal moment for the franchise, and I’m really looking forward to collaborating with them in bringing Death Stranding to the big screen.” It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Kojima would be interested in adapting Death Stranding into a feature film, with his love for cinema and the cinematic nature of the game being a perfect fit for the medium hop.

The announcement comes a week after the reveal of Death Stranding 2 at The Game Awards, giving fans of the series a lot to be excited for.
